FACILITY CAPABILITIES: The capacity for extensive growth with the required resources of labor and facility size.


United Salad Co. moved into a new state-of-the-art facility less than two years ago. This facility is a completely enclosed, 100% refrigerated warehouse including all loading and receiving areas, and with a generator backup for all systems, is 110,000 square feet, the largest single produce distribution facility in the Northwest. Our facility has 25 different rooms for exact temperature and humidity controls among these room’s are14 ripening rooms with holding capacity of over 16,000 cases of which we use for ripening both commercial and organic bananas and tomatoes. A 10,000 square foot green room with humidity controls (misting) for optimum product storage control is also part of our facility. United Salad Co. facility has the room for extensive growth and further growth in the surrounding property. Unlike other facilities in the Northwest we are not land locked and the building plans include plans for future expansion of the existing facility. United Salad Co. has an extensive prepared vegetable and cut fruit facility; the ability of processed and prepped organic fruit and vegetables is available for every need.

At United Salad Co. food safety is paramount. Our quality assurance programs are second to none. With our HACCP program and the independent testing being done at random intervals, your food safety can be assured. Sanitation and Safety Services do our independent testing. All samples and swabs are done randomly and independently daily. All samples and swabs are verified and sent to the S.S.S. labs and to the labs at the USDA and EPA.

In order for quality assurance, food safety, and a complete HACCP program, product must be monitored from the field to your stores. Temperature must be maintained at all times, the cold chain cannot be broken. In order to achieve this United Salad Co. has integrated procedures into our HACCP program to monitor these products at all times.

United Salad Co. has made substantial investments in order to ensure the cold chain is never broken. United Salad Co. is a leader in the cut fruit and process vegetable industry. We recognize the importance and value of these product lines. In today’s marketplace the need for an extensive, quality, value-added line is evident in the percentage of total business performed in these lines and its continued growth. In 2000 United Salad Co. shipped over one million cases of our own processed fruit and vegetables. Our research and development department is constantly testing new recipes, experimenting with new cuts, packs, containers and new products. Innovative presentation and design, along with constant research into all market trends and technologies are among our highest priorities.
