Capabilities
Distribution
We have the ability to deliver to retail outlets from northern California to Alaska.
United Salad Co. currently delivers to retail outlets in northern California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, and have the largest distribution area of any produce company in the Pacific Northwest.
Logistics
We have the resources to transport, store, transfer, ship, and distribute.
Delivering produce to over 1,000 customers per week in such a large geographical area requires large fleet resources and well-trained personnel. To meet our distribution responsibilities, we utilize cutting-edge transportation and distribution technologies. Our fleet of over 100 refrigerated trucks range in size from single-axel lift gate trucks to high cube 53 foot trailers. Each truck is equipped with GPS monitors that let us know where our trucks have been, where they are at any given moment, and how long they have been there.
We feel our drivers are the best in the industry. Always DOT compliant, our drivers are drug free and thoroughly trained in the proper handling and storage of perishable items. We know how hard they work to keep the cold chain intact and truly appreciate their efforts.
Our transportation and routing departments have the latest industry tools to make sure they meet the established delivery times. State-of-the-art computerized routing programs are matched with actual driver logs and manifests to ensure each delivery window is met.
Facility Capabilities
We have what it takes for planned growth. Along with ample labor resources, we have the buildings and land to facilitate such growth.
We have warehouses located in Wapato and Sumner, Washington and in Portland and Bend, Oregon. Totaling in the hundreds of thousands of square feet, our warehouses are Primus Labs Certified. Our facilities are completely enclosed and refrigerated at all times, even while trucks are being loaded. Our hardworking warehouse staff is extremely efficient and always safety conscious. Their level of accuracy is impressive.
Our Portland facility, one of the largest produce distribution facilities in the entire Northwest, has 25 different rooms with exact temperature and humidity controls set to match the precise storage needs of each commodity. Among these are 14 ripening rooms with holding capacities that exceed 16,000 cases. These rooms are used to separately ripen organic bananas and tomatoes and other commercial fruit. Our 10,000 square foot green room has humidity controlled misting capabilities for optimum storage of delicate products. Each facility has powerful generator backup for electrical interruptions or fluctuations.
We have plenty of room to grow. Because we own additional land surrounding our current locations, we have ample space for future expansions.
Certified Organic
We meet all the applicable state and federal requirements for certified storage and shipment of organic produce.
United Salad Co. is a full service distributor of organic products. Rooms dedicated solely to the storage of organic foods make us one of the few truly Oregon State Certified Organic Distributors. As the state and federal laws governing organic products change, United Salad Co. is committed to stay up-to-date and certified in all organic areas. Further, as the need for certified organic distribution grows, our business will grow and expand with it. We have already begun planning for expansion to meet the needs of the growing Organic Industry.
IT Support
We have the capability to support and share information via the internet and direct transmission, which includes records of purchasing, ordering, invoicing, inventory control, billing, costing, pricing, modeling, forecasting and sales analysis.
Our Information Technology department can provide our customers with weekly and monthly reports, which utilize actual retails and costs, track customer or consumer groups, compare flow gross, distribution costs, add loss and percent of sales by item or commodity group. We can also track inflation or deflation by day, week, month or year.
